Hair Restoration
with PRP, NJ.

Your own platelet-rich plasma — drawn from a small blood sample, concentrated, and microinjected into the scalp — stimulates dormant follicles, thickens existing hair shafts, and slows shedding. Drug-free, surgery-free, and effective for early-stage hair loss in both men and women.

PRP works best on early-stage hair loss. If follicles have been dormant for years, results are less reliable. Best candidates have noticed thinning recently, have visible peach-fuzz hair on the scalp, and are committed to a series of treatments. Honest evaluation up front.

Is This Right for You?

For the early-stage thinning
you can actually still treat.

PRP hair restoration clients are typically adults 25 to 65 who notice thinning at the part line, the temples, the crown, or overall density loss — but still have visible follicle activity. Some come in after starting minoxidil or finasteride and want to add a non-pharmacological boost. Others want to delay or avoid medications entirely.

PRP works because your own platelets are loaded with growth factors. Concentrated and delivered directly to the scalp, those growth factors signal hair follicles to extend their growth phase, thicken hair shafts, and reactivate dormant follicles when those follicles are still viable. Catching it early matters.

The Science

How PRP
Hair Restoration Works.

Concentrated growth factors from your own blood signal follicles to grow longer, thicker, and reactivate when possible.

I.

Blood Draw + Centrifuge

A small blood sample is drawn (similar to lab work). Centrifuged to separate platelet-rich plasma from red cells and platelet-poor plasma — concentrating growth factors 3–5x.

II.

Microinjection Grid

PRP is microinjected throughout the scalp at the dermal level using fine needles. Treatment covers the entire area of concern in a consistent grid.

III.

Growth Factor Cascade

Growth factors (PDGF, VEGF, EGF) bind to follicle stem cells. Hair shaft thickness increases, growth phase extends, and dormant follicles can reactivate over months.

What to Expect

Your PRP
Visit, Step by Step.

Quick blood draw, brief processing, comfortable injections. The whole visit fits inside an hour.

i
Step One

Scalp Assessment + Photo

Clinician evaluates pattern of loss, follicle viability, and treatment plan. Photos taken for tracking — month-over-month changes are subtle but real.

ii
Step Two

Blood Draw + Centrifuge

15–30 mL of blood drawn. Centrifuged for 8–12 minutes to isolate PRP. While processing, scalp is numbed with topical anesthetic.

iii
Step Three

Microinjections

Fine-needle microinjections throughout the treatment area. Treatment lasts 15–25 minutes. Most clients tolerate well with topical numbing.

iv
Step Four

Recovery + Series

Mild soreness or tightness 24 hours. Avoid washing hair for 24 hours, then resume normal care. Next session in 4–6 weeks. Total of 3 sessions for initial protocol.

Questions, Answered

PRP Hair Restoration FAQ.

Common questions from our consultations. Call (973) 567-7492 with anything we haven't covered.

Does PRP actually work for hair loss?
Yes — for the right candidate. Multiple peer-reviewed studies show meaningful improvement in hair density and thickness. Best results come from early-stage androgenic alopecia (genetic hair loss) where follicles are still viable.
How long until I see results?
Reduced shedding is often the first sign, around 6–8 weeks. Visible thickness changes typically emerge at 3–4 months. Best photographic comparison is at 6 months from the start of the series.
Is this safe?
Very. Because we're using your own blood, there's essentially zero risk of allergic reaction or rejection. Side effects are limited to mild soreness, brief redness, and rare bruising at injection sites.
Will I need maintenance?
Yes — typically every 6 months after the initial series of 3. Without maintenance, the underlying cause (usually genetic) eventually wins again.
Can I combine PRP with minoxidil or finasteride?
Yes — they work via different mechanisms and are commonly combined. PRP often allows clients to maintain results on lower medication doses, or substitutes for medications when those aren't tolerated.
Will it work if I'm mostly bald already?
Probably not. PRP requires viable follicles to stimulate. Areas that have been completely bald for years usually have follicles that have involuted permanently. Surgical hair transplant is a better option for advanced loss.
Does it hurt?
The blood draw is the most uncomfortable part. The microinjections feel like brief pinches; topical numbing reduces them substantially. Most clients tolerate well.
